SNAPSHOT - DAWN ON THE COAST

I wrote this while sitting on a rooftop on the Gold Coast, Queensland Australia, watching the sun come up over the Pacific Ocean. I reckon it qualifies as a nature poem.

A clear blue mirror greets my eye

Reflects the peaceful scene

Balloons glide o’er the hinterland

With cloudless sky between.

A single wake disturbs the calm

Clear water, beach of white

As fisherman heads slowly home

To tell tall tales of night.

The sun an orb of silver heat

Draws tourists from resort

To stare in awe at nature’s coast

A view that can’t be bought.
