Oh that I could be
a magic turtle in the sea,
I’d find an island
far from this world’s reach;
Riding on my shell
I’d take you through the ocean swell
And land you at our
tryst: Enchanted Beach.
Walking hand in
hand along a sunlit golden band
We’d choose a spot
that overlooks the bay;
Spanner crabs and
fishes would obey your whims and wishes
And build a house
for us from coral clay.
Colorful cuisine
such as the world has never seen
Served by mermaids
conjured from the sea;
Coconuts and
seafood stew, a fishy feast each day for you,
And always, for
dessert, spoonfuls of me.
Afternoons so balmy
with a magic starfish army
Bringing us our
every whim and pleasure;
And if I heard you
sigh I’d put a patch upon one eye
And take you on a
hunt for buried treasure.
Evenings would be
bliss, a sandy stroll, a starlit kiss,
We’d pledge our
love anew beneath the moon;
And if we felt it
right we would drift away the night
Floating, locked in
love in our lagoon.
If a ship passed
by I’d throw a spell into the sky,
To scare them with
a full eclipse or two;
Then send a storm
of hail so they’d put on every sail
And quickly float
away and out of view.
Should there come
the notion you should head back o’er the ocean
Back to the old
life you lived before;
My dolphin
limousine would be there waiting for the Queen,
I’d wave you fond
farewell from on the shore.
I’d wait upon the
sand, in my dreamy island land,
I’d sit there like
a stone and stare to sea;
Watching time and
tide until the day that you decide
To ride your dreams
and come on home to me.
