THE MERRY-GO-ROUND

Part of my 20 poem series entitles THE CIRCUS, showing today's world in the role of a circus in a series of circus poems. Can you guess who or what this poem depicts in real life?

Hop on board, now don’t be shy,
We will pay the fare,
Carousel’s about to fly,
Don’t stay standing there.

Merry Go Round, it can take you
Far across the sea,
It’s got magic, it can make you
What you want to be.

You’ll have DVD and clothes
A brand new car, and more,
And you’ll have respect of those
Who cut you out before.

Take the ride, you cannot lose,
All will be just fine,
How about new leather shoes?
A coat by Calvin Klein?

Buy some plastic souvenirs,
It’s a clear decision,
Don’t you want to hear the cheers,
Where there'd been derision?

Come, and bring your partner, whee!
Grab some new CD’s,
Latest laptop? MP3?
That would surely please.

Got some friends? OK, bring them,
Help them get inside,
Your new mobile phone could ring them,
Tell them of this ride.

Payment? Don’t you worry none!
The ticket system’s clever,
You'll pay off your short ride, son
Around the twelfth of never
.
