Opening night, the
time has come, the curtains soon will part,
Headlong rush onto
the stage to play my first big part.
Audience all
expectant now, they wait to see the show,
happy smiles, but
they are very nervous too, I know.
Hoping I can play my
role with all God’s grace endowed,
when the final
curtain falls I want them to be proud.
Mother’s looking
strained and drawn, it’s been a heavy chore,
sharing all her time
with me, and daily giving more.
Almost six months
now, we’ve been rehearsing for this night,
Mother’s been there
all along, I have to get this right.
Please don’t let me
freeze inside, caught up in all the ropes,
Let me see the
spotlight and fulfill my parents’ hopes.
This is for my
Mother, who I’ll love for all I’m worth,
giving so much of
herself to bring me here – to birth.
