Should I suffer
torture I would rather take the pain
Than say the words
that take away your smile;
Silent in devotion,
feel my blood flow down the drain,
Stagger to my feet
to see you one more time again,
Etch your loving
face into my swiftly dying brain,
Happily I’d crawl
the final mile.
Satan’s arms could
pull until they dragged me to the deep
No struggle would I
make to stay the time;
Scored into my soul
I’d have your loving smile to keep,
Endless darkness
welcomed I would gladly stay asleep,
Deathly dream
forever I’d not worry, I’d not weep,
Ever tranquil with
your smile sublime.
Should I find myself
in Heaven, at St. Peter’s gate
Please tell the Lord
no angels wings for me;
Paradise and all its
saintly pleasures have to wait,
Mayhap I would come
back at some other, future date,
Happy then to
undergo my true eternal fate,
Your smile etched
into my memory.
.
Smile on me,
beloved, smile and make come true my dream
We two are part of
Love’s enormous plan;
Bathe me in the
radiance of your heart’s gracious beam,
Stand beneath my
loving cape as round us raindrops teem,
You and I, united,
play love’s stars in Cupid’s scheme,
Smile on me, my
love, smile on your man.
