There must be a
moment, a second, for us
Somewhere in the
aeons of time,
A minute we’d steal
from eternity’s cup,
Even if damned for
the crime.
The relentless
advance of the hands of the clock
I would stop for an
hour, I swear,
That recess enough
to be all we can be,
An age would pass
by while we’re there.
I’d fearlessly
grapple with old Father Time
To win us a day
with our love,
To fulfill the
destiny written for us
In the pages of
annals above.
An audience with
the great Time Lords I’d seek
I’d crave that they
bend to my task,
To grant us one
week in this lifetime so fleet
Seven days – is
that too much to ask?
If I could stop
time – if for only a month
My happiness would
surpass reason,
And please, is it
too much to ask of the Moon
To grant us just
one summer season?
I would fall to my
knees and contract with the Gods,
Yes, someone as
pagan as I,
If they could endow
us one year of our troth
I would worship
them all till I die.
The rest of my life
I would gladly lay down
The mountains of
ever I’d climb,
If we had that
magical moment of love,
We’d stay there,
suspended in time.
