In silent sadness
sit and watch the sky
but never see the
promise in its hue
If only one could
take to wing and fly
and leave the Earth
to wage its Waterloo
The sun goes down
again in déja vu
a neon light show
wasted on your youth
A single star the
only thing in view
a tiny light to
illustrate the truth.
You write your name
in blood to justify
this raven heart
you tell the world is you
Beware the Devil
lest your soul supply
another herb to
tincture Satan’s brew
As you believe you
watch yourself unglue
defy the dark and
leave your blinkered booth
Believe and read
your future’s billet-doux
a tiny light to
illustrate the truth.
Look up and see the
sunshine signify
a new day with a
firmament of blue
Inflate your lungs
with air and purify
the ravages of
teenage feverfew
See miracles
unpublished hitherto
to one so set on
wolf and saber-tooth
Delight in life –
explore another view
a tiny light to
illustrate the truth.
If I could write
but one line that were true
to help you as you
drink of life’s vermouth
‘twould be this
text: there shines inside of you
a tiny light to
illustrate the truth.
