MY WEDDING VOWS

There are ups and downs, my loved one,

There’ll be good days there’ll be bad days,

The good ones filled with laughter,

And tears to fill the sad days;

I’ll hug away your troubles,

We’ll laugh away your fears,

We’ll talk out any problems,

I’ll kiss away your tears.

It’s not a bed of roses,

Our life’s not just a game,

But the love we have between us

Will always be the same.

I cannot promise heaven,

At least not for forever,

But maybe we’ll get close to it

When we’re alone together;

This world can quickly crumble,

Nothing seems to stay,

Something that seems permanent

Might last for but a day;

But in this inconsistent life

There’s one thing you can claim:

The love we have between us

Will always be the same.

The universe is changing,

With every waking day,

Friends can become enemies,

As April turns to May;

Don’t put you faith in worldly goods,

Don’t hope for things to last,

Don’t fret about the future

Or worry on the past;

There’s one thing that is permanent,

One thing that time can’t claim:

The love we have between us

Will always be the same.

SAID TO JAN,  APRIL 28, 1984. STILL TOGETHER.
