YOU AND I

If I am Peter Pan then you are Wendy,

Tinker Bell will give us power to fly,

Then Never-Never Land

Will be our Love-Forever Land,

With stardust softly twinkling in your eye.

We’ll live our dreams upon a secret island,

Build a tree house looking on the ocean,

And there in verdant pleasure

We will find our buried treasure,

And love in time to treetop’s swaying motion.

If I am Romeo then you’re my Juliet,

Call on Shakespeare to re-write the play,

I want no poison ending

What the Gods to me are sending,

We’ll stay in love forever and a day.

I’ll build for you a castle on a mountain,

Go inside and raise the drawbridge high,

We’ll totally ignore

Our old life pounding on the door,

Our days will be complete, our time is nigh.

If I am Thor then you are Aphrodite,

Choirs of Mount Olympus all shall sing

How love has split asunder

Even Thor’s most strident thunder,

For such is the enchantment that you bring.

If I must be myself and you just you, love,

Hear my vow: today will be the start,

I’ll be the love you needed,

All past life now superseded

Together, love forever, heart to heart.
